National Organization of Italian American Women

Antoinette Lanteri

My grandparents were born in Italy and migrated to America in the early 1900s. My parents were raised in Brooklyn and kept Italian culture alive throughout my childhood and most of my adulthood. My dad passed away in 1995, and my mom in 2014. Unfortunately, a lot of Italian culture died with them. The most monumental was Sunday dinner, macaroni and meatballs, followed by meat and vegetables, followed by dessert and coffee. NOIAW has pulled me back into my Italian heritage and roots. Attending events feel nostalgic and warm I am honored and grateful to be part of this organization.
