We are pleased to announce that our Distinguished Board Member, Margaret Cuomo, M.D. will appear in a PBS one-hour special program this November titled “A World Without Cancer with Margaret I. Cuomo, M.D.”.

In this program Dr. Cuomo shares ways to lower the risk of cancer, with experts Ken Burns, Thaddeus Young, and Valerie Simpson.

About Dr. Cuomo

Margaret I. Cuomo, M.D. is a board certified radiologist, teaching professional, and national advocate for the prevention of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. She graduated summa cum laude from St. John’s University and received an M.D. degree from Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. She served as an attending physician in diagnostic radiology at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, specializing in diagnostic radiology, and dedicating much of her time and energy to the diagnosis of cancer and AIDS, using state-of-the art CT scans, ultrasound examinations, and MRI. She is a contributor and member of the Medical Review Board of The Huffington Post, is a regular contributor to WebMD, and has been featured in many TV interviews, magazines and newspapers.

In addition to her work as a physician and public health advocate, Dr. Cuomo is also active in the educational promotion of the Italian language, serving as co-founder and president of the Italian Language Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Italian language education in the United States.
