Celebrate St. Joseph’s Day alla Siciliana

Please join us for an evening celebrating the traditions and foods of St. Joseph’s Day, an annual feast thought to have originated in the 10th century in Sicily. Renowned Chef Vittorio of Trattoria Romana will be our host as he demonstrates and explains time-honored St. Joseph’s Day dishes.

We’ll enjoy his delicious cuisine while NOIAW member and performing artist Allison Scola will grace us with a selection of Sicilian songs, dance a tarantella, and perform using her tamburello, or Sicilian tambourine.

Allison, who is owner and curator of Experience Sicily, has traveled extensively through the Mediterranean’s largest island, and she will discuss St. Joseph Day traditions with us. She has performed in the New York Columbus Day Parade and wooed audiences during Italian Day performances at the New York Mets’ Shea Stadium and Staten Island Yankees Stadium.
