Meet Juliet Grames, author of the debut novel
The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna

ABOUT THE EVENT
Start off Italian Heritage month right with a captivating luncheon featuring one of NOIAW’s newest members, Juliet Grames, author of The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna. In this talked-about debut novel, Grames presents what one review describes as a “sweeping family saga…from Calabria to Connecticut, about sisterhood, secrets, Italian immigration, the American dream, and one woman’s tenacious fight against her own fate.”

Dine and network with other inspiring Italian American women as Juliet Grames reveals how she has yearned to tell her grandmother’s story since she was eight years old, and how this amazing woman’s life empowered and enriched the lives of the daughters and granddaughters who came after her.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Juliet Grames is an assistant publisher at Ecco Press, an Italian American native of Hartford, CT, and newly arrived resident of Rhode Island.

Books will be available for purchase.

Juliet Grames has written a magnificent debut, creating a deeply felt, richly imagined world based upon her family history. The dark beauty of Calabria and the promise of America sets the stage for Stella’s volatile life, which will be a fight to the finish as she survives a brutal patriarchy while navigating complex family ties and expectations. Moody, original and profound. Brava! —Adriana Trigiani
